I feel like I say this every month but I can't believe how the time is flying and how big Cleo is getting. She's really so much fun, such a happy kid. She's trying to talk. She has lots of words but they aren't really easy to understand by many outside of Mom and Dad. She's taken to yelling for us and to grabbing items of ours and bringing them to us announcing “Mama” or “Dada”. She's actually fitting into some size 2T tops right now (which is frightening for Mom and Dad), but is right 'on size' for her pants in 18-24 months. She hit the 25 pound mark this month and seems to still be tall in comparison to others her age. She decided to expand her horizons past Baby Einstein this month and now enjoys the Wiggles. She also has a new obsession with babies...and much to our horror that obsession includes stealing goldfish from other kids' strollers along the way (she usually chooses the little ones who can't defend their food – ha!). She also decided to add strawberries to the list of fruit she loves, which is weird because she's always loved fruits and veggies but would consistently refuse strawberries until just now! She's getting better at climbing independently, even venturing up the ladder to her slide in the backyard with minimal assistance. We celebrated this milestone in BC with Charles' family at the cabin. It was great to see Cleo surrounded by her family and playing with her three cousins. There's a huge amount of mutual love between these four great kids. As for milestones over the last month...Cleo now consistently calls us Mama (mostly Mah) and Dada (sometimes Daddeee) which make us super happy. Her obsession/love of dogs continues with almost daily sightings and constant 'Bark, bark' from her! She continues to grow like a weed but it seems her weight gain has finally slowed. She definitely knows what she wants and is happy to communicate it to us. She made it through quite a few road trips this month without incident so things are settling in on that front too. She loves her music class (especially when the instructor plays guitar) and is still a most active child (doing somersaults is a favourite). She's also interested in figuring out her tricycle which is just a bit too big for her still. I just can't believe how the time is flying...before we know it the summer will be gone and she'll be starting daycare...yikes!!  Serious business of corn eating...  Still loves water...splash, splash  Little helper wants to water the flowers...  Daisy picker giggling like crazy... |

Cleo's getting so much bigger....she's now 17 months and it's almost 6 months since we first held her in our arms. Life sure is changing. Every month there are new milestones. This month I would have to say Cleo's communication skills are improving. She makes almost daily attempts at new words, adding 'dark' to the repetoire now that she can shut the lights off on her own. There are also a few more signs...notably 'refridgerator' which is done more for a reaction than to communicate anything in particular (it is pretty cute). Cleo's reasoning skills are also developing, this was a month of true negotiation....”if you want more asparagus (yes, she loves it) you have to eat some chicken”! Forget my former life of negotiating contracts with government or suppliers this is serious stuff! She's also taken notice of babies in the last month...an unexplained interest in a toy doll stroller arrived out of no where. She still walks around holding her 'dolly' by the hair though so no babysitting anytime soon – ha!  I'm ready for gymnastics Mom!  Higher Daddy, again!  Diva likes her glasses...  Wet bathing suit hug! |
